WetSide Water Park – fun for the young and the old!
The water park features hundreds of spouts and jets, fountains interactive play equipment, water slides, surfing, special play area for under-5’s called TotSide, tipping buckets, music and a giant water screen. Entry into WetSide is free however people will be charged $5.00 for a 10 minute session on the FlipSide Board Rider wave machine, where park-goers can surf a static wave. Opening hours vary day to day. For up to date timetables please refer their Wetside Water Park website. WetSide may close for reasons including private functions, maintenance, extreme weather or maximum safe capacity crowds.
Hervey Bay is great for fishing
Garfish, whiting, marlin, mangrove jack, red emporer, barramundi, trevally….it’s all here! Firstly the main pier is 1.4 kilometers long and great for fishing! Elsewhere in Hervey Bay you can beach fish, rock fish on Fraser Island, go deep sea or continental shelf fishing, fish the estuaries and creeks on the inside of the island or any of the many creeks and rivers, on the mainland side of the Great Sandy Strait, fish the strait itself, ply the deep and shallow reefs and ledges in the bay, shore fish or fish from the pier of jetties or even go fresh water fishing!
If you don’t have your own gear or boat, charter vessel trips are available.
Hervey Bay Esplanade and Beaches
Whether it’s a lazy snooze on the clean white sand, or a water activity you will be able to find the right spot at Hervey Bay. Visitors can enjoy water-skiing, para-sailing, sailing, kayaking and windsurfing, most of which you can hire on the beach.
There are 60 kilometres of beach here including the Esplanade which is 15 kilometres long with several BBQ and picnic areas as well as some great shops, alfresco restaurants and cafes and hotels. There is a bicycle and pedestrian path along the beach front which is great for cyclists, rollerskating and skateboarding. There are also several exercise ‘stations’ along the path where you can even do a quick work out on gym equipment!
Known also for the abundant wildlife, Hervey Bay is home to a wide variety of birds such as the famous Rainbow Lorikeet and Rosella Parrots. It is a glorious site to watch the magnificent sea eagles swooping and diving to catch fish from the water or hovering effortlessly over the beaches like kites in the wind. Point Vernon is home to some of the area’s Osprey nesting grounds. The Wildlife Reserve Society, based in Urangan, have a free booklet for bird watching locations throughout the Bay.
Go Kart Track
Entertain the kids, grandkids and parents or even have an adrenaline pumped party for something new and exciting. As well as single karts, there are tandem karts with dual steering. There’s a 650 metres long bitumen track and after you’ve done the gokarting, you an jump on to a 120 metre long waterslide running down the side of the hill!
